All in His Hands

Isn't it nice to know that we live in such an orderly world? Even in Bible times the people knew of things like the water cycle and germination. (see Isaiah 55:10) And in Psalm 50 Asaph the writer of this chapter tells of another science concept they understood:

"The Mighty One, God, the Lord,

speaks and summons the earth

from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets."

-Psalm 50:1

Asaph is saying how constant and how orderly the days are. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, and it all happens as a result of God, the Mighty One. He is the one that not only set everything in motion, but keeps it all in motion.

Paul tells us the same thing in Romans 1:

"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities- his eternal power and divine nature- have been clearly seen. being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)

All of creation points to a divine creator. The orderliness itself tells us that someone is behind it all. And that someone according to both Asaph and Paul is God, the Mighty One. I'm glad to know He is in charge. I can go to sleep tonight knowing the sun will be "summoned" again in the morning. It is a peace that passes understanding knowing that He has the whole world in His mighty hands.
